MARCUS MAKES HIS MARK ON TROPHY NIGHT

Marcus Jensen accepts the Loth Medal 2008Hard working backrower, Marcus Jensen was the big winner at the Clubs Presentation of Trophies Night held in front of a capacity crowd at the Leagues Club on Saturday night.

Marcus won the award for Best Forward and then won the countdown to be voted the Players Player for the Season. He was quickly back on stage to accept a third award when he claimed the Club's ultimate playing honour, the Loth Medal. John Loth was on hand to present the medal to a grateful Marcus (pictured).

The presentation of Trophies for the 2008 season was held in the auditorium of the Easts Leagues Club on Saturday 20th September with a capacity turnout of 230 in attendance.

The Club's official guests on the night were representatives from many of our wonderful sponsors, while the Eastern Suburbs Past Players and Officials Association was represented by Col Logan. Representative from each of our affiliated Junior Clubs were also in attendance to add to the importance of the occasion.

The "Mark Fyfe Memorial Trophy” awarded to a player from each of the Junior Clubs who is nominated as “ the player most likely to succeed in senior football “.

Ed. Wylie then presented the Ed. Wylie Trophy for the “ Player's Player of the Year in Reserve Grade ” to Wallace Solomona

State League - Club Patron Brian Smart was invited to present the Patrons Trophy for the Most Outstanding Player in First Grade and announced that this season's winner was Liam Campbell.

SPECIAL AWARDS

Mike Batch is congratulated for 25 years A special presentation was made to the affable Mike Batch (pictured), who for twenty-five seasons has been in charge of the Conditioning program at the Tigers and has decided to step aside. Mike was presented with a set of wine glasses and promised to drop in on Langlands Park in 2009 to check on the boys on match days.

The mood became more sombre as tribute was made to Mrs Edna Cook, the donor of the COOK FAMILY TROPHY for the player who has been inspirational to his team mates through the year. Sadly, Edna passed away a week before the awards night but her trophy was one of the highlights of the evening with the choice of Rob Palfrey being extremely popular with all present.

The State League Player's Player points tally was unvilled throughout the evening in a series of video highlight packages with Marcus Jensen and Kev Stephenson being level at the close of counting after Round 16. Life Member Pat. McGrath was invited to announce the McGrath Family Award for the “Player's Player of the Year in First Grade “ and the award was presented to Marcus Jensen .

Mr. John LOTH then presented the Loth Medal named in honour of his father. The nominees for this award are nominated by the Club's Executive Committee and the Medal is awarded to the player who accumulates the most number of points after each member of the Executive Committee allots points for the player's Will to Win, Dedication, Club Interest, Conduct on and off the field, Football Ability and Determination. The Medal was presented to Marcus Jensen

The presentations concluded with Des Morris announcing the Life membership of Dr Stan Theodoros who has been involved with the Club for over thirty years and made the official presentation. This was greeted by tumultuous applause from all present.
